Undergraduate Courses |
|
The Department of Chemistry offers seven undergraduate programmes and a range of taught MSc programmes. The contents of these modular, taught programmes are strongly influenced by the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and industrial links with the department are strong. The option of a supervised year of industrial (or professional) training is available within all undergraduate programmes and this leads to the additional qualification of Diploma in Industrial (or Professional) Studies (DIS or DPS). Lecturers from industry contribute to the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and sponsor research projects.
Undergraduate taught programmes (Honours degrees)Most undergraduate programmes are available with various time options (3, 4 or 5 years) and qualifications (MChem and BSc), and may include an industrial/professional year. MChem candidates undertake a fourth academic year in which research techniques and presentation skills are complemented with further optional modules in chemistry. MChem candidates also undertake an additional and extended research project. All prospective students are invited to visit the campus to view the department’s excellent facilities, to discuss individual aspirations and needs, and to visit one of the many Halls of Residence and the extensive sports and recreational facilities.
Undergraduate ApplicationsApplications for all our undergraduate programmes are received via the UCAS scheme and places are allocated according to our typical offers. International StudentsThe Chemistry Department welcomes applications from
